Japanese Tokoname Red Clay Dragon Vase with Floral Handles, 19th Century
$680.00
This 19th-century Japanese Tokoname dragon vase is crafted from warm red clay and features sinuous dragons in raised relief across a finely textured, bulbous body. Floral shoulder details and tied-bow motifs add sculptural ornament, while the narrow ribbed neck and broad rim balance the richly worked surface.
The unglazed earthenware has a matte reddish-brown finish with darker accents that emphasize the dragon scales and raised decoration. Dating to circa the 1890s, the vase has a strong sculptural presence and works beautifully as a standalone decorative vessel.
Well suited to Japanese, traditional, maximalist, and eclectic interiors.
