Sculptural Face Wall Plaque with Verdigris Finish, Signed R. Hardy, 1990
Modernist face wall plaque bearing the signature “R. Hardy” and the date 1990 on the reverse. The rounded, mask-like form features sweeping raised brows, almond-shaped eyes, an elongated nose and full lips, with curved cheek contours and a divided chin lending the face an expressive, sculptural character.
Small incised circular motifs follow the upper and side edges. A mottled blue-green finish contrasts with charcoal shading and warm bronze-tone highlights along the raised features, creating the appearance of patinated metal. The underlying material remains unconfirmed; the supplied auction description identifies it as faux-plaster.
Approximately 8 inches high and 8 inches wide, this compact figurative wall sculpture provides texture and color for a gallery wall, study or eclectic interior. An integral hanging attachment is present on the reverse.
The plaque displays minor surface wear and areas of chipping or finish loss along the rear perimeter, most noticeably at the lower edge. The maker’s full identity and country of manufacture have not been verified.
